Apprentices in Action

Film Connection apprentice
Wendy Daniels (Easton, NY) just finished directing a stage production of “Charlotte’s Web” for the local elementary school. After that, it was back to the screenwriting! Wendy got some great, positive feedback from mentor Richard Brandes who assigned her to break down
The Usual Suspects into acts and plot points. Wendy found the exercise very helpful and says, “constantly remembering the structured format helps me keep my writing on point and organized.”

Radio Connection apprentice
Thomas Chapman of Chicago, IL has been assisting his mentor with his MOS or “Man on the Street” segment. They interview people in downtown Chicago, asking them their daily question. After that, it’s off to splicing, editing and prepping for the next show.

Recording Connection apprentice
Nick Dawson (Pittsburgh, PA) recently shared an idea he had for miking a bass. Mentor Hollis Greathouse was very impressed and receptive to the idea, as were a number of other pros. Nick says, “It was cool because there were industry legends talking about my idea like it was the golden ticket to Wonka’s factory. Ha, ok that was exaggerated a little but still, it was cool.”
