One of the must attend festival destinations in Texas is Austin City Limits. Sprawling over two weekends, the festival features a lineup of some of the biggest and best acts currently working in music today. This year’s diverse 2016 lineup includes such highly acclaimed acts as Kendrick Lamar, Mumford & Sons, LCD Soundsystem, Radio Head, M83, Haim, Cage The Elephant, Schoolboy Q, Two Door Cinema Club, LL Cool J, Young The Giant, and Local Natives among many others.

Taking place on Sept 30th through Oct 2nd and Oct 7 through Oct 9Th at Zilker Park, the show promises to be a fantastic event for fans of every type of music. In addition to the festival there will be ACL Festival Food Court and ACL Art Market. The Food Court will provide attendees with numerous selections of local food and culinary delights. The Art Market is a venue for local artists to sell their work and promote themselves. You’ll be able to find crafts, art, and fun merchandise from both Austin-based creators and visiting craftsmen and artists who are attending specifically to sell their wares. Additionally, the ALC Cares will be on-hand at the festival for attendees to discover and support Austin based charities and non-profits.

The Austin City Limits Festival is a spinoff of Austin City Limits, a weekly PBS music performance television show that has been airing continuously since 1974. With more than forty years of musical history in its wings, Austin City Limits has played a significant role in promoting and changing the cultural and musical landscape of the nation. Athough Austin is not a big city, it is a powerhouse of creativity and a bastion of American music and eclecticism.

Attend Austin City Limits and you’ll witness an array of talent and the sense of camaraderie that happens when you’re surrounded by a veritable legion of similarly bent music minds. Here, folk and hip-hop can share the stage and no one bats an eyelash. It’s all about good music, good artistry, and open-minded creative expression. Austin City Limits does its best not only to profile large performers but also fledgling, up-and-coming bands. In this way the festival continues to be a contributing force to exposing new and exciting talents to music lovers, often years before they’re known on the national stage.
